Link launches AI agent balance feature for US Instinct users

Instinct's new Link balance lets AI agents spend USDC on a user's behalf within preset per-purchase limits, rolling out first in the US.
Link has introduced an agent balance feature inside Instinct that allows AI to spend cryptocurrency on a user's behalf, with the rollout currently limited to US users, according to a post on X. The balance is denominated in USDC and is paired with per-purchase spending limits set by the user, according to defiprime.com.
The integration connects to Stripe, letting AI-assisted purchases run through the payment processor while staying bounded by per-transaction limits, per leviathan.news. In practice, this means a user sets a ceiling on what the agent can spend per purchase, funds the balance in USDC, and the agent executes transactions against that balance without requiring approval on each individual purchase.
The design places Instinct's feature in what industry framing describes as the "delegated agent" tier of AI autonomy โ systems that act within spending or decision rules set in advance rather than requiring a human to approve every step, and distinct from both simple copilots that only surface recommendations and fully autonomous agents that operate with minimal human checkpoints. Other products in the wider agent-payments space have taken similar approaches, including budget-constrained local-purchase agents and virtual-card integrations that bound agent spending with pre-authorized limits.
Two distinct sources have corroborated the launch, both describing the same core mechanics: a Link-branded USDC balance
