BDACS adopts LayerZero's OFT standard to enable KRW1, Korea's first onshore won-backed stablecoin, to move natively across major DeFi chains without wrapped tokens.

BDACS has chosen LayerZero's OFT standard to enable KRW1, described as Korea's first onshore won-backed stablecoin, to operate across major decentralized finance chains. The move eliminates the need for wrapped token versions when the asset moves between networks, addressing a key friction point in multi-chain deployments.
OFT tokens leverage LayerZero's omnichain messaging infrastructure to move assets natively rather than through traditional bridge mechanisms that mint synthetic representations on destination chains. This approach reduces the proliferation of wrapped versions and their associated custody and audit risks, allowing applications to define their own security configurations using LayerZero's modular verifier networks.
The adoption underscores continued interest in LayerZero's cross-chain tooling despite recent security incidents within the ecosystem. Questions remain about whether other Korean stablecoins or regional digital won initiatives might follow a similar adoption path, and how regulatory frameworks in Korea will treat natively cross-chain stablecoins moving through decentralized networks.
