Binance to convert Funding Account into dedicated stock-settlement wallet
DeFi & Yields ·
Binance is moving crypto holdings out of Funding Accounts and into Spot Accounts in stages, ahead of turning the old wallet into a stocks-only "Stocks Account."
The transition begins September 29, 2026 and is set to continue through January 2027, according to wublockchain.xyz. Once complete, the account previously used for funding will exist solely to clear and settle equities and stock options, no longer serving as a general crypto wallet. From the September start date, on-chain deposits into Funding Accounts will stop working entirely, pushing that traffic toward Spot Accounts instead.
The redesigned Stocks Account will be limited to six assets for settling stock trades: USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U, and BNB. Any other token a user wants to move in or out of Binance will need to go through a Spot Account rather than the old Funding channel. To help users prepare, Binance is rolling out a "One-Click Migration" tool that lets holders shift their balances manually before the deadline; whatever isn't moved by then gets swept over automatically in batches once January 2027 begins, with Binance stating that total asset values and security will remain unaffected by the process.
The timing lines up with a broader push by Binance into tokenized equities. Around the same period, the exchange is set to add three tokenized securities — CYPHB, AMCB, and AGPUB — as collateral across its margin products, and separately plans to accept the same three as bStocks collateral beginning September 2026. Trading pairs for the underlying names, tied to Cypherpunk Technologies, AMC Entertainment, and Axe Compute, are also being added to spot and convert markets. Binance has said the bStocks collateral option will let users apply added leverage while keeping 1:1 backing intact.
Together, the account rebrand and the collateral rollout point to Binance building dedicated infrastructure for tokenized stock products rather than folding them into existing crypto rails. The exchange's own announcement and a related post are available via binance.com and x.com, with additional coverage tracked at leviathan.news.
Not yet detailed is how existing Funding Account features tied to earning products or other services will carry over once the wallet is repurposed, nor what happens to balances in assets outside the six approved settlement currencies if left unmigrated past January 2027.
