Binance's trading volume for perpetual futures contracts linked to traditional assets reached $445 billion in July, reflecting roughly a 15-fold increase from approximately $30 billion in January, according to company data. The surge follows the launch of options access covering more than 1,000 US stocks and exchange-traded funds for non-US users, facilitated through the exchange's Abu Dhabi-based entity Nest Trading Limited in cooperation with Alpaca Securities, a US broker-dealer responsible for execution, clearing, and custody operations.
The expansion taps into growing appetite for traditional asset exposure through crypto trading venues. Shunyet Jan, Binance's head of exchange and trading, characterized this as evidence of rising demand to access conventional markets via blockchain infrastructure. According to Bloomberg reporting, the offering extends beyond derivatives into options products, broadening the range of instruments available.
The growth trajectory from January to July demonstrates rapid adoption, though it remains unclear how much of the volume surge stems from new user onboarding versus increased trading frequency among existing users, or how the options launch will sustain momentum relative to perpetual futures trading.
