Brale launches ION Protocol on testnet to enable cross-chain stablecoin transfers via burn-and-mint mechanism, addressing fragmented liquidity across 350+ stablecoins.
DeFi & Yields ·
Brale has launched ION Protocol on testnet, a system enabling stablecoin transfers across blockchains through a burn-and-mint mechanism rather than pooled-liquidity bridges. The protocol destroys tokens on one chain and creates them on another, aiming to reduce capital requirements compared to traditional bridge designs.
The move addresses fragmentation across the stablecoin ecosystem. More than 350 stablecoin types exist with combined market capitalization exceeding $300 billion, but liquidity remains scattered across chains. Brale's architecture sidesteps the need for pre-funded liquidity pools, potentially easing bottlenecks as custom stablecoins scale.
The protocol remains at testnet stage with no live market deployment yet. Its real-world viability and adoption by stablecoin issuers and users remains to be demonstrated once it progresses beyond testing.
