Circle intends to establish USDC operations in roughly 40 emerging and developing countries spanning Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East, CEO Jeremy Allaire announced, citing growing interest from individuals and businesses seeking participation in digital economies. USDC currently commands approximately 25% of the stablecoin market with circulation of $73.3 billion as of the second quarter, up 19% year over year, positioning it behind Tether's USDT at roughly 60% market share. The expansion comes as Circle secures regulatory approvals, including a federal banking charter obtained in July, while the GENIUS Act approaches its January implementation date.
