Consensys and ClearToken announced a partnership on October 8, 2026, to enable round-the-clock settlement of tokenized securities using fiat currency, tokenized bank deposits, or stablecoins within a UK regulatory framework. ClearToken's securities depository has received Gate 2 approval from the Bank of England's Digital Securities Sandbox, allowing it to issue and settle tokenized versions of existing securities including FTSE 350 equities, government debt, and corporate bonds, while its separate clearing entity still awaits Bank of England authorization. The model splits settlement into two components: Consensys provides the technical layer ensuring on-chain transactions cannot be reversed, while ClearToken handles the legal finality confirming transfers are irrevocable. The partnership does not yet name participating institutions, blockchain networks, or a timeline for the first transaction.
