Cove launches counter trading feature enabling users to sell position slices into buy-side liquidity for slippage-free exits.
DeFi & Yields ·
Cove has launched a counter trading feature that enables users to exit positions by selling slices into incoming buy-side liquidity rather than executing large single sales. The mechanism works by monitoring for qualifying buys in a token and automatically selling portions of a user's position in response, potentially reducing price impact from a large unilateral sell. Users can configure the strategy by setting a minimum buy trigger (starting at $50), the percentage of each qualifying buy to sell against (default 75%), an optional market cap floor, and a total position share to exit (default 100%).
The counter strategy operates as a standing sell order that can run for up to 30 days by default. When another trader's buy meets the configured trigger amount and any market cap threshold, Cove initiates a separate market sell from the user's selected wallet, repeating this process across multiple qualifying buys until the specified position share has been sold or the strategy expires. The feature documentation notes that the benefit depends on market conditions and execution, with the most significant advantage appearing when sustained buy pressure exists.
Key configuration details remain customizable: trigger amounts can range from any buy to $50, $100, $250, or a custom value; size percentages can span 10% to 500% of each qualifying buy; and total sell amounts can be set between 1% and 100% of the selected position. The strategy requires buyers to arrive; creating it alone does not guarantee execution.
