Ethena launches Ethena Pay, a consumer-facing self-custodial financial app on Avalanche offering 6% rewards and 5% cashback, now live in 49 countries with balances auto-converted to USDe.

Ethena has introduced Ethena Pay, a self-custodial application running on Avalanche that enables users to save, send, and spend digital dollars while earning financial incentives. The platform offers up to 6% rewards on qualifying balances alongside up to 5% cashback on eligible card purchases. The service is currently operational in 49 countries, including Bangladesh.
The launch represents a strategic pivot toward mainstream consumer adoption. User balances within Ethena Pay are automatically converted to USDe, Ethena's stablecoin, establishing a direct retail pathway for distributing the token across its ecosystem. This shift positions Ethena as a consumer-oriented financial platform rather than solely a decentralized finance protocol.
The viability of this expansion remains uncertain. Whether Ethena can establish USDe as a widely used digital currency for everyday transactions—scaling from current users to millions—depends on factors including user acquisition, merchant adoption, and regulatory approval across its operating territories. The company has not disclosed metrics on current user numbers or transaction volumes since the launch.
