FedMSB establishes National Digital Dollar Committee to coordinate AmeriUSD digital dollar system rollout.
DeFi & Yields ·
The Federal Money Services Business Association announced the creation of the National Digital Dollar Committee, an industry body tasked with coordinating development of AmeriUSD, a digital dollar infrastructure system intended to support U.S. payments, remittances and settlement. The committee formation follows FedMSB's introduction of AmeriUSD on September 22 and marks an institutional milestone in building out organizational and technical frameworks for the initiative.
The committee will bring together money services businesses, financial institutions, fintech firms and digital infrastructure providers to coordinate work across payments, remittances, foreign exchange and cross-border settlement. NDDC will operate alongside FedMSB's existing Stablecoin Standards Authority, which focuses on technical and governance standards for stablecoins, while the new committee addresses broader institutional and operational requirements for digital dollar infrastructure in the non-bank financial services sector. Planned focus areas include AML/KYC protocols, sanctions compliance, transaction monitoring, consumer protection, cybersecurity and settlement mechanisms.
The committee expects to announce initial members and an industry participation framework in the coming weeks, with plans to engage licensed money services businesses, remittance providers, payment companies, digital wallet providers and related infrastructure organizations. Details on governance structure, formal membership criteria and timeline for substantive coordination work remain to be disclosed.
