Injective achieved record developer activity, launched regulated derivatives and institutional funds, piloted trade finance tokenization, and accelerated token burns while advancing U.S./EU regulatory compliance.

Injective posted a series of regulatory and technical milestones during the second quarter of 2026. The network recorded 56 code commits in a single day, placing it first in daily developer activity, while accelerating token burns past 7.1 million INJ as issuance contracted. On the institutional front, Merkle Capital debuted M-INJ in Thailand as Asia's inaugural SEC-regulated fund centered on INJ, and CFTC-regulated INJ futures launched on Bitnomial, positioning the token among a select few altcoins with U.S. derivatives oversight. POSCO International simultaneously began testing trade finance tokenization across its 80+ overseas branches to streamline payment settlement.
Infrastructure advances included the fifth major 2026 network upgrade (IIP-677), which reduced block times below 0.6 seconds, and the Vulcan upgrade, which decreased oracle gas consumption by 90% while enabling EVM contracts to access price feeds directly and support canonical USDC. Injective also established the Injective Policy Institute in Washington, D.C. to engage U.S. regulators and lawmakers, filed SEC Form TA-1 for transfer agent registration, and released a MiCA whitepaper to chart compliant deployment in both U.S. and European jurisdictions.
What remains unclear is whether the burn acceleration will sustain at current rates or how quickly institutional adoption through M-INJ and the POSCO tokenization pilot will translate into measurable on-chain activity or additional ecosystem growth.
