Interactive Brokers adds Ethereum staking for brokerage clients
DeFi & Yields ·
The broker has launched its first staking offering, letting eligible clients earn rewards on ETH holdings through a partnership with Zerohash.
Interactive Brokers has expanded its crypto services to include Ethereum staking, built through infrastructure provider Zerohash, according to The Block. The offering marks the company's first staking product and is limited to ETH at launch.
Rewards earned through the service are credited as additional staked ETH, which can then compound over time rather than being paid out separately. This structure ties the staking rewards directly into clients' existing ETH holdings within the brokerage's unified platform.
The rollout is aimed at eligible clients who hold ETH through Interactive Brokers, adding a yield-generating option to what has largely been a buy-and-hold digital asset offering. Several reports describe the feature as being integrated into the brokerage's unified platform, allowing staking to sit alongside other asset classes clients already trade.
The move follows a broader pattern of brokerages and retail platforms adding staking as a way to let customers earn rewards on digital asset holdings without needing separate wallets or third-party staking services. Reporting on the launch describes it variously as a brokerage-wide feature for eligible clients and as a retail-facing cryptocurrency staking service, with four distinct sources covering the development.
Not yet detailed is whether Interactive Brokers plans to extend staking to other proof-of-stake assets beyond ETH, what fee structure applies to the rewards, or which client tiers and jurisdictions are eligible at launch. Those specifics, along with any performance data on reward rates, remain to be clarified as the service rolls out more broadly.
