Kalshi parlay bettors have accumulated losses exceeding $1 billion since the feature launched in September 2025, according to analysis of trading data. Of that total, $608.9 million represents losses before fees, with an additional $400 million paid in fees by takers. The milestone was reached over the most recent weekend despite parlay volume declining slightly from record highs set the prior week.
The parlay product has grown rapidly, particularly since the 2026 NFL season began, with nearly half of all cumulative losses occurring in the eight weeks since that launch. Since September 2025, total volume on multi-leg trades has reached $165.6 billion, while taker stakes—the metric closest to sportsbook handle—total $7.1 billion. Cash-out trades have contributed significantly to losses, accounting for $141.8 million of the total; without these positions, losses would be substantially lower.
The performance on Kalshi reflects broader patterns across prediction markets. Takers on competing platforms including Polymarket US and DKeX have lost a higher percentage of their stakes since those exchanges launched parlay offerings. Traditional sportsbooks similarly see operators retain up to 20 percent of parlay stakes compared to roughly 10 percent on other bet types, suggesting structural disadvantages in these products persist across venues.
