Morgan Stanley launches Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana trading on E*TRADE via Zero Hash infrastructure.

Morgan Stanley has enabled spot trading of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana on its E*TRADE platform for eligible customers, leveraging infrastructure and custody services from Zero Hash. The integration allows investors to manage digital asset holdings within their existing brokerage accounts at a 50-basis-point fee, with transfer functionality planned for later in the year. Holdings remain in linked Zero Hash accounts rather than under Morgan Stanley's direct custody.
The move represents the latest step in the bank's expanding digital asset strategy. Earlier in 2025, Morgan Stanley filed SEC registration statements for spot Bitcoin and Solana ETFs and outlined exploration of tokenization and tokenized money market funds alongside tax tools for digital assets. In April, the firm introduced a money market product tailored for stablecoin issuers seeking to manage reserves. A September 2025 announcement had previewed this E*TRADE rollout with the same three assets and Zero Hash partnership.
The launch extends beyond crypto, arriving alongside E*TRADE platform updates including retirement planning tools, fractional share trading, and an updated IPO Center. Key details remain unresolved: the full scope of which customer segments qualify as "eligible," whether additional cryptocurrencies will be added, and the timing of promised transfer features.
