Morpho launches Morpho Midnight, bringing receivable-backed credit markets onchain.
DeFi & Yields ·
Morpho has launched Morpho Midnight, a product bringing receivable-backed credit markets to blockchain. The protocol, which holds over $11B in deposits and raised $175M from Paradigm and a16z, operates as a modular DeFi lending infrastructure with integrations across major platforms including Coinbase.
Morpho Midnight shifts the risk model for fixed-rate credit by moving bad debt risk to lenders through a socialized mechanism, making loan-to-value ratios, maturity terms, and liquidation incentives critical parameters. The launch builds on Morpho Blue's core design—an isolated, permissionless credit market architecture where each market operates independently rather than pooling risk across assets. This differs structurally from traditional shared-liquidity protocols like Aave and Compound, where losses in one asset pair can affect all depositors.
The receivables integration marks an expansion into real-world asset credit markets onchain. Technical details on deployment timeline, supported collateral types, and initial market parameters remain to be detailed in further announcements.
