Morpho's curation market has grown to $11B+ as the protocol targets a $200T credit market opportunity.
DeFi & Yields ·
Morpho, a modular DeFi lending protocol, has grown its curation market from zero to over $11 billion in deposits while positioning itself to capture a $200 trillion credit market opportunity. The protocol raised $175 million from Paradigm and a16z and has established integrations with major institutions including Coinbase, serving both institutional and retail users through isolated credit markets and curated yield vaults.
Morpho's architecture replaces traditional shared liquidity pools with isolated, permissionless credit markets built on Morpho Blue, a minimal smart contract layer containing fewer than 650 lines of Solidity. This design isolates risk by market pair rather than pooling it across assets—a bad debt event in one market cannot cascade to others. Risk management is delegated to the vault layer, where curators like Gauntlet and Steakhouse Financial set allocation strategies and oversee ongoing market monitoring for depositors who interact only with a single yield-bearing token.
The protocol's recent milestones include launching an AI Agents beta enabling autonomous lending actions across Ethereum and Base, securing a Hong Kong partnership with HashKey Group to expand compliant onchain credit infrastructure across APAC, and drawing institutional coverage including a $60 price target projection from Standard Chartered. Outstanding questions remain around how the protocol will scale its curator model and manage tail risks in fixed-rate credit markets under varying liquidation incentive structures.
