According to Castle Labs, onchain real-world asset perpetual trading volume reached more than $120 billion in August 2026, up from less than $1 billion in October 2025—a roughly 120-fold increase over under a year. RWA perpetuals peaked at approximately 20% of total onchain perpetual trading volume in July, though they typically represent 12–13% of the market across most months.
Monthly trading volume has stayed above $100 billion since June 2026. The market's current open interest stands at roughly $4.9 billion, with TradeXYZ and Variational together accounting for nearly 90% of that amount.
What remains unclear is whether this growth trajectory will sustain, how regulatory developments might affect RWA perpetual trading, and whether concentration among the two leading platforms poses systemic risks to the market.
