Ripple receives final OCC approval to establish Ripple National Trust Bank for managing RLUSD stablecoin reserves and digital asset custody.

Ripple has received final approval from the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to establish Ripple National Trust Bank, a federally supervised platform for managing RLUSD stablecoin reserves and digital asset custody. CEO Brad Garlinghouse announced the decision as a major milestone, characterizing it as evidence that crypto innovation and traditional banking can coexist within regulatory frameworks. The bank will function as collateral trustee for RLUSD token holders and bring federal banking supervision to custody infrastructure already used by institutions.
The approval follows conditional authorization granted in December 2025, after which Ripple met additional regulatory conditions. The company has emphasized its strategy of building within regulatory boundaries rather than around them, with executives noting that clear rules and federal oversight establish the trust required to scale financial infrastructure. Ripple's new bank will manage RLUSD reserves and facilitate transactions, including through integration with Cross River Bank's operating system, which enables businesses to move between US dollars and RLUSD via a single API connection with settlement on XRP Ledger in approximately three to five seconds.
Critical operational details remain unspecified, including when the bank will become fully operational. Current access to the Cross River Bank integration is limited to certain states, and the precise scope of the bank's custody and reserve-management functions has not been detailed.
