StandX to wind down perp DEX, cancel token after 11 months
DeFi & Yields ·
The decentralized perpetual futures platform co-founded by Aaron Gong, formerly head of Binance Futures, is closing operations and dropping its planned native token.
StandX will cease functioning following an internal assessment of its business and market conditions, according to an announcement detailed by wublockchain.xyz. The platform launched its mainnet in November 2025 and says it onboarded more than 237,000 users during its run, with total value locked peaking above $200 million at one point.
The exchange laid out a multi-stage exit timeline rather than an immediate halt. Yield payouts to users will stop on October 15, and five days later, on October 20, the perpetual trading engine will switch to reduce-only mode, meaning traders can close existing positions but not open new ones. Any positions still open will be force-closed no later than January 15, 2027, giving users an extended window to manage exposure before full wind-down.
Beyond position closures, StandX confirmed that redemptions of its DUSD stablecoin and withdrawals of remaining assets will be cut off on January 31. As a final gesture to its user base, the team said it intends to issue a one-time DUSD airdrop, financed from leftover protocol revenue combined with additional contributions from the team itself.
The shutdown was also referenced directly by the project's own account, aligning with the wind-down details reported elsewhere. Coverage of the closure is corroborated across at least two distinct sources tracking the cluster.
What remains unclear is the specific business or market factors that triggered the review leading to closure, as well as how large the final DUSD airdrop will be relative to peak TVL. Also unaddressed is the fate of the scrapped token plan's prior commitments, if any, to users or investors, and whether affected traders face constraints in closing positions before the 2027 deadline.
