Startale launched a virtual payment card enabling early users to spend USDSC stablecoin after identity verification.
DeFi & Yields ·
On November 2, 2026, Startale opened its virtual payment card to early contributors following more than 300,000 waitlist sign-ups since July. Users selected for initial access can complete identity verification through the Startale App and begin spending $USDSC immediately, while remaining applicants advance through a priority queue. The card is issued by Rain, operating as a Visa Principal Member, and can be used at over 150 million merchant locations worldwide with a 1% cashback reward in $USDSC, though the cashback rate remains subject to change or discontinuation.
Spending operates through a dedicated linked wallet that holds the $USDSC balance separately from the user's main Startale wallet. When a cardholder initiates a purchase, the transaction flows through the card network while a hold contract temporarily reserves funds in the linked wallet until settlement completes. Users set a target balance in the card wallet, which can automatically rebalance from their primary holdings to maintain that amount. All card costs and fees are authorized to draw from the linked wallet during setup.
The app currently supports Ethereum and Soneium but has no native mobile client yet; users access card activation through the web-based interface. Identity verification and anti-money-laundering checks are handled by Rain and its service providers, with Startale transmitting applicant information to those third parties under the app's terms of service. Expansion to remaining waitlist members will proceed in queue order as capacity allows.
