Wirex launches stablecoin banking infrastructure on Arc mainnet with debit cards, accounts, and payout services.

Wirex has launched stablecoin banking infrastructure on the Arc mainnet, bringing debit cards, accounts, and payout services to the network. The deployment represents an expansion of crypto payment card capabilities, a category that has grown significantly as stablecoin-backed Visa and Mastercard products enable everyday spending. Crypto card usage has surged to $600M in monthly volume, tripling year-over-year as these instruments reduce reliance on traditional fiat off-ramps.
Wirex's infrastructure allows users to spend stablecoins at merchants that accept traditional card networks, with conversion to fiat occurring at the point of sale while merchants continue to receive conventional currency. The Arc mainnet integration adds banking primitives—accounts and payouts—alongside the card functionality, positioning Wirex within a broader market shift toward more sophisticated offerings. Other players in the space, including Crossmint and Nium, have similarly launched stablecoin-backed card issuance platforms to enable developer integrations and merchant reach.
What remains unclear is the specific feature set Wirex will offer on Arc—whether the platform will include self-custodial wallet integration, DeFi yield functionality, or privacy-focused settlement options that analysts say users increasingly demand. The competitive landscape continues to evolve, with the market reportedly shifting away from simple "spend your crypto" designs toward more complex financial products.
