Wirex has partnered with Tempo to integrate Tempo's network as a settlement layer for enterprise stablecoin card programs. The arrangement adds Tempo's infrastructure to Wirex's banking and payments capabilities, enabling institutions to build and operate stablecoin-backed payment cards through the Wirex platform.
Tempo is a payments-focused Layer 1 blockchain incubated by Stripe and Paradigm, designed to handle stablecoin settlement at institutional scale. The network targets more than 100,000 transactions per second with finality around 600 milliseconds and sub-cent transaction fees. Its architecture allows users to pay gas fees directly in stablecoins rather than a native token, and includes built-in compliance controls. Validators on the network include Visa, Stripe, and Standard Chartered.
The partnership reflects growing institutional interest in stablecoin infrastructure, though specific details about implementation timeline, supported stablecoins, or geographic rollout have not been disclosed. Wirex's announcement does not specify whether this integration will initially serve a particular market or customer segment.
