XRP Ledger developers issue a second amendment to fix the uncollateralized lending protocol before validator approval and launch.

XRP Ledger developers have introduced a second code amendment to fix problems in the network's uncollateralized lending protocol while the original version still awaits validator approval, avoiding the need to launch a flawed system and patch it afterward. The new lending feature allows fixed-term loans drawn from pooled funds, using off-chain underwriting and a "first-loss capital" buffer instead of automated on-chain collateral. Both amendments must reach 80% validator support over two weeks to activate. The preemptive repair follows a recent discovery of a critical payment-engine bug that could have enabled counterfeit XRP creation.
