HYPE joins Hashdex crypto index ETF at 3.4% weighting
Ecosystem ·
Hyperliquid's HYPE token has been folded into Hashdex's NCIQ fund for the first time, landing as the fifth-largest position in the portfolio.
The inclusion gives HYPE a 3.4% allocation within the index-tracking ETF, marking its debut inside a U.S.-listed crypto index product. Its entry came alongside a rebalancing of the fund's other holdings: Bitcoin's share slipped to 74.6% from a prior 78%, while Solana's stake climbed to 3.7% from 3.2%, according to wublockchain.xyz.
The shift places HYPE just behind Solana in the fund's ranking, signaling that Hashdex's methodology now treats Hyperliquid's token as significant enough to warrant a standing allocation alongside longer-established assets. Bitcoin remains the dominant component by a wide margin despite the reduction in its weighting, while Solana's increased share suggests continued reallocation toward assets beyond the two largest holdings.
The reweighting reflects periodic adjustments typical of index-based crypto funds, where allocations are recalculated to reflect changes in market composition or fund methodology rather than one-time discretionary moves. The addition of a newer token like HYPE into an established index product, at the expense of Bitcoin's relative share, points to a broader inclusion of assets tied to decentralized trading infrastructure within regulated fund structures.
What remains unclear from the available reporting is the specific criteria or trigger behind Hashdex's decision to add HYPE at this particular juncture, as well as whether further adjustments to the index's composition are planned. Also unaddressed is how this rebalancing compares with allocation changes at other crypto index funds tracking similar baskets of assets.
