XRPL Foundation CTO proposes integrating XRP with Elon Musk's X Money wallet to enable yield-generating on-chain financial products.

Denis Angell, CTO of the XRP Ledger Foundation, has proposed connecting X Money—Elon Musk's payments wallet—with XRP to enable users to access yield-generating financial tools on the ledger. Angell's vision extends beyond basic crypto payments, instead positioning X Money as a gateway where users could move funds into XRP and employ on-chain features like XRPL's lending protocol and single asset vaults to generate returns.
Currently, X Money operates exclusively as a fiat-based wallet without cryptocurrency or stablecoin functionality. The platform, which launched in June to Premium+ subscribers and expanded by late July, offers free transfers, direct deposits, and a Visa debit card with up to 6% annual yield. While Musk flagged the possibility of crypto integration as far back as March, no such integration has materialized, and recent development has focused on the existing dollar system.
Angell's proposal remains speculative; there is no indication that X or the XRPL Foundation have committed to or begun such integration work. The feasibility of embedding on-chain financial products into X Money's interface, or whether such a partnership could move beyond discussion, remains undetermined.
