Binance processed $15.7 billion in exchange inflows during August, capturing over 75% of all centralized exchange flows and receiving approximately 8.4x the inflows of the second-largest exchange. The surge coincided with bitcoin's price climbing past $80,000 during the month, with the platform's research division attributing the inflows to users trading on the market revival.
The concentration of liquidity reflects Binance's continued dominance in the sector, with Bybit and OKX identified as the other two exchanges capturing meaningful flows, though smaller venues experienced more fragmented activity. The platform maintained positive inflows even in July when several competitors wound down operations, underscoring its liquidity resilience.
However, the month also brought regulatory complications. Binance faced allegations of onboarding customers in the European Union without securing a Markets in Crypto Assets license, introducing compliance uncertainty despite the strong financial performance.
