Binance's Bitcoin reserves hit 693k BTC (30% of major exchange reserves), up 77k since late April, signaling potential selling pressure.
Macro & Markets ·
Binance's Bitcoin reserves have climbed to over 693,000 BTC, representing approximately 30% of total holdings across major exchanges, according to on-chain monitoring. The accumulation marks a 77,000 BTC increase since late April, reaching a two-year peak.
The reserve growth may stem from multiple concurrent pressures. Investors appear to be moving Bitcoin to exchanges following recent price rallies in May, positioning to liquidate holdings. The SAFU fund's announced $1 billion investment plan to acquire roughly 15,000 BTC may have also driven transfers. Additionally, some holders moved Bitcoin to exchanges for safekeeping in response to the ColdCard incident.
The concentration of such a large portion of exchange reserves at a single platform creates material risk of selling pressure on Bitcoin markets. However, the exact timing and scale of any potential liquidations remain uncertain, as does the degree to which each cited factor contributed to the inflow.
