Bitcoin is up 7.33% in September, on track for its best monthly performance on record.
Macro & Markets ·
Bitcoin has gained 43.1% during the third quarter of 2026, marking its strongest quarterly performance since the final quarter of 2024 and its third-best quarterly advance since US spot Bitcoin ETFs began trading in January 2024. The rally intensified following August 19th, when the US Treasury announced it would increase buybacks of long-dated Treasuries, with prices climbing 29.8% in the period since that announcement.
Inflows into US spot Bitcoin ETFs have accelerated sharply. The week ending September 25th saw $2.4 billion in inflows, the largest weekly intake recorded since October 2025. Year-to-date ETF inflows have swung to positive $1.0 billion, reversing the $5.0 billion in total outflows that had accumulated through the end of July. September itself is tracking as the strongest month on record for Bitcoin performance.
The shift from outflows to sustained inflows suggests a fundamental change in institutional positioning, though whether the Treasury buyback announcement triggered the move or coincided with broader macro sentiment shifts remains unclear. The extent to which ETF inflows will sustain this trajectory is not yet established.
