Bitfinex Alpha warns Bitcoin's rally above $68k lacks sustained spot buying support and relies on macroeconomic repricing rather than fundamental absorption.
Macro & Markets ·
Bitcoin climbed to its highest close since June 22 following softer-than-expected US June CPI data, but according to Bitfinex Alpha, the advance was underpinned chiefly by shifts in macroeconomic pricing rather than underlying demand. The analysis flagged an absence of sustained spot-market absorption, positive Coinbase premium dynamics, and continuous price-insensitive ETF purchases—characteristics the report described as "borrowed strength."
The $68,000–$68,300 band emerged as a critical threshold, with Bitfinex identifying consistent ETF inflows as necessary for price acceptance above that zone. The firm cautioned that conviction remains fragile; should the interest-rate narrative shift, the rationale supporting the rally could erode rapidly, leaving the move vulnerable to reversal.
