Bitwise surveyed 15 institutions including endowments, pension funds, and family offices between late March and April 2026, finding that crypto holdings typically represented 1% to 2% of investable assets, though the range spanned 0.5% to 13%. During a roughly 50% market decline from October 2025 through April 2026, none of the surveyed institutions decreased their exposure, and several increased their positions. All respondents holding crypto owned Bitcoin, and nearly all either currently use or plan to adopt spot crypto ETFs, though governance, operational, and reputational issues continue limiting larger allocations.
