The transaction represented the ninth consecutive quarterly net purchase, bringing the cumulative total to $1.6 trillion over that period. In the 12 months through July, foreign investment in US equities and funds reached $942 billion, the largest rolling annual amount since Treasury data collection began in 1985. Meanwhile, purchases of US debt securities totaled $188 billion in Q2 2026, declining from $314 billion in the prior quarter.
