Global physical gold-backed exchange-traded funds recorded $6.4 billion in inflows during the most recent week, representing their largest weekly intake since January and the third-largest on record. North America led the flows with $4.4 billion, trailed by European funds at $1.7 billion and Asian funds contributing $300 million. The inflow marked the seventh consecutive week of positive flows into these vehicles.
Over the seven-week period ending with this latest inflow, global gold-backed ETFs accumulated $16.4 billion total. Assets under management in global gold ETFs expanded by $33 billion in the reporting week, reaching $615 billion—a level not seen since mid-May.
The sustained inflow pattern across multiple weeks and regions, combined with the expansion of total assets to multi-month highs, reflects concentrated demand for physical gold exposure through these instruments. What remains unclear is whether this momentum reflects shifts in macroeconomic positioning, central bank policy expectations, or geopolitical factors driving the flows.
