Strategy adds 267 BTC, lifts buyback ceiling to $3 billion
Macro & Markets ·
The company behind the largest corporate bitcoin treasury widened its repurchase authorization and added to its coin stack in the same week, according to wublockchain.xyz.
Between October 12 and October 18, the firm bought 267 BTC for $22.1 million, paying an average of $82,900 per coin. That purchase pushes its cumulative bitcoin position to 848,517 BTC, continuing a pattern of incremental weekly additions rather than a single large purchase, a trajectory also noted by theblock.co.
Funding for the latest acquisition came largely from stock activity: roughly $22 million was raised through sales of MSTR shares, which covered most of the cost of the new coins. Separately, the company repurchased 1.94 million shares of its STRC securities for $193.1 million, a move distinct from the bitcoin buy but disclosed in the same update.
Alongside these transactions, the company raised its authorization for repurchasing digital credit securities from $2 billion to $3 billion. After accounting for the STRC buyback already completed, $1.16 billion of that expanded capacity remains unused, giving the company room to continue repurchases going forward.
The update was corroborated across multiple outlets tracking the same figures — 267 BTC, the $82,900 average price, and the 848,517 BTC total — with seven distinct sources covering the disclosure. None of the accounts indicate additional bitcoin purchases beyond the stated week, nor do they specify how the remaining $1.16 billion in authorization will be deployed.
What remains unclear is the pace of future STRC repurchases against that remaining balance, and whether upcoming bitcoin acquisitions will continue to rely primarily on equity sales or shift toward other funding sources. The company has not disclosed plans beyond the October 12–18 window.
