MicroStrategy's 12 largest institutional investors increased their MSTR stakes by $1.2B in Q2 2026, signaling growing institutional confidence in Bitcoin holdings.
Macro & Markets ·
13F filings show that twelve of the fifteen largest institutional shareholders in MSTR increased their positions during the second quarter of 2026, with combined stakes rising by approximately $1.2 billion from Q1. Goldman Sachs led the wave with an addition of roughly $407 million, followed by Capital International Investors at $364 million and BlackRock Asset Management Ireland at about $98 million. Capital Research Global Investors and UBS moved in the opposite direction, trimming their holdings.
The buying signals reflect institutional appetite for exposure to MSTR at a time when the company maintains more than 840,000 BTC on its corporate balance sheet as of August 2026. The concentration of buying activity among large asset managers suggests confidence in the company's Bitcoin acquisition strategy and its position in the digital asset landscape.
What remains unclear is whether the Q2 accumulation reflects a sustained shift in institutional allocation toward corporate Bitcoin reserves or a tactical positioning around specific market conditions or company developments in that quarter.
