Long speculative positioning in Nasdaq futures has reached nearly 50% of open interest among hedge funds, CTAs, and other institutional investors, the highest level since 2017, representing a sharp reversal from a net short position just weeks earlier. This contrasts with net long positioning that remained below 25% of open interest throughout 2021-2025. Concurrently, net short positioning in Russell 2000 futures has fallen to -30% of open interest, marking its most bearish level since late 2025.
