Retail investors withdrew a record $300 million from ETFs on Wednesday, exceeding the previous daily record of $260 million set in 2020, as semiconductor and momentum funds experienced significant outflows. The semiconductor ETF $SOXX saw $270 million in retail outflows on Wednesday alone and posted $695 million in total weekly outflows, its largest since mid-August, while the leveraged semiconductor ETF $SOXL recorded $1.2 billion in weekly withdrawals, the largest since June. Momentum ETF $MTUM experienced $12 million in retail outflows Wednesday and $30 million on Tuesday, reflecting broad profit-taking across technology-focused funds.
