Spot BTC ETF outflows intensify amid narrow trading range and lowest volumes since 2019.
Macro & Markets ·
U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $131 million in net outflows on August 13, with ARK Invest and 21Shares' ARKB accounting for $58.82 million of that decline, according to available market data. In the same period, Ethereum ETFs moved in the opposite direction, posting $6.72 million in net inflows overall, driven primarily by Grayscale's Ethereum Mini Trust ETF, which drew $6.47 million.
The Bitcoin outflow activity occurs amid a broader pattern of tightening liquidity in spot cryptocurrency ETFs. The scale of redemptions and the concentration in a single product suggest selective investor positioning rather than uniform sector-wide withdrawal.
The data does not yet clarify whether the outflows reflect profit-taking at current price levels, portfolio rebalancing, or tactical shifts in demand for the underlying assets. The divergence between Bitcoin and Ethereum fund flows also leaves open questions about relative appetite for the two assets during this period.
