Strive adds 2,000 BTC in third-largest purchase on record
Macro & Markets ·
The company spent $169 million at an average price of $84,422 per bitcoin, lifting total holdings to 29,462 BTC.
Strive disclosed the purchase through a statement attributed to CEO Matt Cole, who said the acquisition was funded in part through SATA, with 61.5% of the capital raised coming from that source and warrants generating $56.7 million. The remainder of the funding was not detailed. An 8-K filing tied to the purchase also included company metrics and KPIs through the third quarter of 2026.
The buy ranks as Strive's third-largest since the company began accumulating bitcoin, trailing only the 5,816-5,817 BTC obtained through its merger with Semler Scientific and a 2,500 BTC purchase made for $185.2 million earlier in 2026. It is also notably larger than the company's purchase from the prior week, marking an acceleration in its buying pace.
The purchase comes as Strategy, the largest corporate bitcoin holder, has slowed its own accumulation; its most recent weekly buy totaled just 334 BTC, continuing a streak of three consecutive weekly purchases but at a markedly smaller scale than Strive's latest move. Separately, the purchase has been described as Strive's biggest since June, moving the company closer to Marathon Digital's position among top bitcoin holders.
Four distinct sources have corroborated the core figures — the 2,000 BTC purchase, the $169 million outlay, and the resulting 29,462 BTC total — though the exact comparison point to Marathon Digital's holdings and the precise ranking among corporate holders remain unconfirmed. Also unclear is the source of the remaining 38.5% of capital not attributed to SATA warrants, and whether Strive's accelerated pace will continue into coming weeks.
