Banks and regulators across Europe, Middle East, and Asia are testing quantum-resistant crypto wallets and on-chain transfers on NEAR.

Financial institutions including Bison Bank and DK Bank are participating in a pilot program testing post-quantum digital asset wallets and on-chain transfers, with regulators from Abu Dhabi, Bhutan, and Malta observing initial phases. The initiative, announced by the Responsible Fintech Institute and custody provider Safeheron, uses a quantum-resistant NEAR testnet and implements ML-DSA-65, a post-quantum signature standard from the US National Institute of Standards and Technology. The pilot reflects broader preparation across the financial sector for quantum computing risks to current cryptographic systems, with outcomes to be documented in a white paper and potentially released as open-source technology.
