BingX EU obtains MiCAR license from Austria's FMA, enabling regulated crypto services across 29 EEA countries.
Regulation & Gov ·
BingX EU has obtained a MiCAR license from Austria's Financial Market Authority, clearing the way to deliver regulated cryptocurrency services across 29 countries within the European Economic Area. The license represents formal authorization under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation, the bloc's foundational framework for digital-asset service providers that took effect in stages during 2024.
The MiCAR framework operates as a multi-layered system in which national regulators, EU institutions including ESMA and the European Banking Authority, and sanctions authorities each exercise distinct authority over licensed firms. A single license granted by one member state functions as a passport enabling cross-border activity throughout the EEA, though compliance obligations span licensing, anti-money laundering, market integrity, and sanctions enforcement coordinated across the bloc's 27 member states. The architecture allows businesses to access roughly 450 million potential users under a shared rulebook rather than navigating 27 separate regulatory regimes.
What remains unclear is whether this authorization will face additional restrictions or modifications as EU oversight structures evolve—particularly given discussions about shifting supervisory power toward ESMA and the pending rollout of EU-wide anti-money laundering rules. The practical scope of BingX EU's operations will also depend on how national competent authorities interpret and enforce MiCAR requirements within their territories.
