Bitcoin BIP Editor Murch recommends removing Luke Dashjr from the BIP Editors committee, alleging inconsistent editorial authority and procedural violations over BIP110.
Regulation & Gov ·
Murch, a Bitcoin BIP Editor, has recommended the removal of Luke Dashjr from the BIP Editors committee, according to a message posted to the Bitcoin Development Mailing List. The recommendation follows allegations that Dashjr played a central role in developing and rolling out BIP110, a proposal that resulted in a Bitcoin fork.
Murch contended that Dashjr applied editorial authority unevenly and circumvented normal procedures throughout the process. Specific instances included assigning a BIP number to the proposal before it underwent mailing list discussion and approving a related pull request within minutes of submission. Murch also indicated that working relationships and coordination among the BIP Editors had deteriorated.
The recommendation raises questions about governance and editorial oversight in the Bitcoin Improvement Proposal process. The outcome of the removal proposal and any formal response from Dashjr or other committee members remain unclear.
