Aiden Pleterski, a 27-year-old Canadian crypto entrepreneur, will defend himself at a fraud and money laundering trial starting Monday after an Ontario judge denied his request to postpone proceedings so he could retain counsel. The four-week jury trial follows charges related to roughly $40 million that investors gave Pleterski to trade cryptocurrency and foreign exchange; bankruptcy proceedings have recovered approximately $3 million from those funds. The presiding judge will raise procedural objections on Pleterski's behalf to prevent inadmissible evidence from reaching the jury, and Pleterski has denied the allegations.
