Cap.app accused of directing airdrop funds to founder-linked wallets instead of broadly distributing to community participants.
Regulation & Gov ·
Cap.app's approach to distributing $4.2M in stablecoin payouts has drawn criticism for potentially favoring insiders. The project announced it would distribute funds only to holders of its YT tokens, justifying the decision as necessary to compensate YT purchasers. However, the largest YT buyer was identified as a wallet that acquired 19 million YTs between December 21 and 28, and this address was linked to QiDaoProtocol's working capital account associated with founder Benjamin918_.
The criticism centers on whether the payout structure effectively concentrates distributions among a narrow set of accounts rather than the broader community. One team member countered that the wallet in question was distinct from founder-controlled addresses according to mai.finance documentation, characterizing the connection as inaccurate. Critics responded by pointing to funding flows between the addresses and noting that the same wallet had previously minted the megaben.eth name before transferring it to an address connected to caplabs.eth, suggesting deeper links within the ecosystem.
The dispute remains unresolved regarding whether the wallet connections constitute evidence of misallocation or represent separate operational accounts. No independent audit or clarification from Cap.app leadership has yet addressed the core allegation that token sale funds are being directed disproportionately to founder-adjacent addresses.
