Crypto entrepreneur Adam Iza sentenced to six years for $37M Meta fraud and misuse of law enforcement.
Regulation & Gov ·
Adam Iza, 26, received a 78-month sentence for conspiring with off-duty Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies to harass business rivals using confidential law enforcement records and fraudulently accessing Meta business accounts. The scheme yielded more than $37 million between 2020 and 2022, with Iza concealing proceeds through cryptocurrency custodians and facing a $23.4 million restitution order. Five former deputies were also convicted in connection with the scheme, which included extortion, false warrant applications, and tax evasion; the new sentence runs concurrent to a 15-year conviction Iza received last month for an attempted Bitcoin robbery.
