ECB publishes framework mapping tokenized central bank money, deposits, securities, and stablecoins on-chain.
Regulation & Gov ·
The European Central Bank has published a framework mapping tokenized central bank money, deposits, securities, and stablecoins operating on blockchain networks, according to its official documentation. The mapping reflects the ECB's growing focus on how digital assets interact with eurozone monetary systems as stablecoin adoption scales and central bank digital currency projects advance. The ECB, which sets monetary policy for the 20 euro-sharing countries and roughly 350 million people, has positioned itself as a key regulator in this space through frameworks including the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation.
