The European Central Bank has selected Nexi and Deutsche Telekom to serve as network providers for digital euro infrastructure. The selection supports the ECB's planned retail central bank digital currency, which is designed as a free, privacy-preserving digital form of euro accessible to users across the euro area through banks and payment service providers.
