Hargreaves Lansdown, the UK's largest investment platform, launches 9 spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETNs from multiple providers, expanding regulated crypto access for 2 million retail investors.

Hargreaves Lansdown, which serves approximately 2 million investors, has begun offering spot Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded notes from six providers including BlackRock iShares, WisdomTree, 21Shares, Invesco, CoinShares, and Bitwise. The move expands regulated cryptocurrency access to UK retail investors through the platform.
The launch marks a shift in positioning for the investment platform. Nearly a year prior, the platform had publicly stated that Bitcoin does not constitute an asset class, a stance that preceded this decision to list nine spot crypto ETNs.
The expansion of regulated crypto products to a large retail user base could generate incremental demand over time, though the longer-term trajectory of adoption and asset flows through these instruments remains to be determined.
