Philippine Central Bank restricts inbound bank transfers to Coins.ph's e-money operator, limiting deposits while outbound transfers remain open.
Regulation & Gov ·
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has partially suspended inbound InstaPay and PESONet transfers to DCPay Philippines, the e-money operator backing Coins.ph, one of the Philippines' major homegrown crypto platforms. The measure restricts deposits flowing through bank channels and select QR payment methods, though users can still move funds out of the platform.
The curb targets the e-money arm specifically. Coins.ph's separately licensed crypto trading business, Betur Inc., remains unaffected by the central bank's action and operates under its own regulatory framework.
The restriction narrows deposit pathways for users of the platform but leaves withdrawal functionality intact. The full scope of the central bank's concerns and whether further measures may follow remain unclear.
