Zcash governance votes overwhelmingly approve faster transaction speeds and Bitcoin-style halving schedule.

Nearly 2.4 million ZEC, representing about two-thirds of eligible tokens, voted to reduce Zcash block times to 25 seconds from 75 seconds, with 99.9% support according to https://www.coindesk.com/tech/2026/09/16/zcash-holders-overwhelmingly-back-faster-transactions-and-bitcoin-style-halvings. The vote also approved preserving Zcash's bitcoin-style halving schedule with 98.9% backing for the NU7 network upgrade. The privacy-preserving voting system encrypted ballots and split them into 16 pieces before counting, allowing holders to vote with their economic stake while keeping their balance and identity hidden.
