Franklin Templeton, Animoca Brands team up on NUVA RWA marketplace
RWA & Tokenization ·
The two firms will integrate tokenized real-world assets into Animoca's NUVA vault platform, with plans to expand beyond its current Provenance-based asset base.
Franklin Templeton and Animoca Brands have announced a partnership to bring tokenized real-world assets into NUVA, a vault marketplace built by Animoca, according to defiprime.com. The deal pairs Franklin Templeton's push into onchain finance with Animoca's existing vault infrastructure, aiming to widen the range of assets available on the platform.
As part of the arrangement, the companies plan to expand NUVA's marketplace beyond assets currently built on Provenance, a blockchain network the platform has relied on to date. No specific timeline, asset classes, or deal terms have been disclosed beyond the stated intent to broaden the marketplace's scope.
The tie-up fits into Franklin Templeton's broader pattern of courting crypto-native partners to extend its tokenization efforts. The asset manager, which oversees roughly between 1.5 and 1.7 trillion dollars, has separately pursued tokenized treasury work with Scrypt on Swiss-regulated infrastructure, and has built out its Benji onchain money market fund alongside multi-chain tokenization work and partnerships spanning Kraken, MoonPay, Avalanche, Aptos, and tZERO. Executives at the firm have also framed resistance to blockchain adoption within traditional finance as rooted in economics, arguing that tokenization threatens established business models in asset management.
Animoca Brands, for its part, brings a vault marketplace already operating with Provenance-based real-world assets, giving Franklin Templeton a distribution channel into a crypto-native user base. The partnership has been corroborated across at least two distinct sources covering the cluster, though full details of how tokenized assets will be onboarded, which custodians or chains will be used, and what regulatory approvals may be required remain unspecified.
What remains unresolved is the scope of assets Franklin Templeton will contribute to NUVA, the mechanics of integrating assets beyond Provenance, and any timeline for the marketplace's expansion. Further disclosures from either company would clarify how the partnership fits alongside Franklin Templeton's other tokenization initiatives and whether NUVA's vault model will serve as a template for additional asset managers entering the space.
